The report choices in September 2017’s poll are: Asset Intelligence Dashboard OR SSRS Stats Dashboard. The winning report in September’s poll will become October’s free System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) report!
All of our dashboard and report giveaways are found within the Enhanced Web Reporting product. To learn more about Enhanced Web Reporting, please visit the product page.
At the moment, Asset Intelligence Dashboard is ahead with nearly 83% of the vote.
SSRS Stats Dashboard
Have you ever wanted to know which SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) reports are running the most or if they have ever been run before? Do you want to know which reports take the most time to run (execute)? This report will tell you those stats for your SSRS server. This report will also help to identify reports that generate significant data or take significant SQL Server CPU time. Knowing this information will allow you to either adjust the report or enable SSRS caching. For more details about SSRS caching, see this post, How to Setup Report Caching for a SSRS Report.
Asset Intelligence Dashboard
A short while back we released the Asset Intelligence Computer Details report. This was one of the companion reports within our AI report set. The report in this month’s poll, Asset Intelligence Dashboard, will provide you with a count of all of your software titles grouped by Product Family, Product Category, and Product.
The Asset Intelligence Dashboard leverages Microsoft’s Asset Intelligence Catalog, which according to the online documentation, has over 300,000 software titles! Additionally, SCCM administrators can submit new software titles via the Asset Intelligence Synchronization point. This means that the catalog is continually growing. This simple dashboard will help you validate your software licensing by using this catalog.
There are two major benefits of using AI data. First, Microsoft vets all of the software titles that are submitted to them via the System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) console. This means that you can trust the results that they return back to SCCM via the Asset Intelligence Synchronization point. Second, there is no additional cost for using this cloud service! This is a perfect example of how cloud services can help companies be more efficient.
This AI dashboard assumes that you have enabled the SMS_InstalledSoftware AI Class within the SCCM console. Without this class enabled, the dashboard will not return any details.
Don’t have the SMS_InstalledSoftware AI Class enabled? Don’t worry because Garth Jones, our Chief Architect, is working on a blog post that will show you how to enable the Asset Intelligence Synchronization point, how to enable the AI classes, and how to submit software titles to Microsoft for classification.
In the full-feature set, the Asset Intelligence Dashboard will drill through to List of Computers by Product, which in turn will drill through to, Asset Intelligence Computer Details.
All of our reports have the Role-Based Administration (RBA) feature enabled. This means that if you are using System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager or above, these reports will work with all RBA settings.
Don’t forget that you can request September’s free ConfigMgr report, System Center Endpoint Protection (SCEP) Dashboard, by filling out the form found on our website. You will receive an email shortly there afterwards.
