Error Message Lookup Dashboard
a) The Error Message Lookup Dashboard is a report that the Enhansoft team created for internal use about a year ago. We recently gave it out to one of our partners who wanted a quick way for service desk team members to lookup error messages using hex error codes. This dashboard gives them exactly that!
Starting with SCCM 2012, there is a way to access error messages via SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), so we created this dashboard by leveraging that information. The Error Message Lookup Dashboard allows you to enter a hex error code and view the error message within it. For example, if 0x80249004 is entered, the report will display the error message for that error code: WUA: There was an inventory error not covered by another error code.
Please note that this report will display the error message in the language of the user running the report, but only if the error message exists in that language. Otherwise the message will be displayed in English.
System Center Endpoint Protection (SCEP) Dashboard
b) Over the last few month’s we’ve received a number of requests for December 2015’s free report, System Center Endpoint Protection (SCEP) Dashboard, so we thought we’d put it in this month’s poll!
In the System Center Endpoint Protection (SCEP) Dashboard report, you’ll see that the main details about your SCEP environment are displayed in three easy to read tables, Anti-Virus Signature Version, Engine Version, and Client Version (client version is sometimes referred to as platform version).
The tables are arranged from left to right (Anti-Virus Signature Version, Engine Version, and Client Version). The reason for this arrangement is to give you information first about the most important and frequently changing SCEP details (Anti-Virus Signature) to more static details (Engine and Client) for your SCEP environment.
The latest version update appears on the top row of every table’s column. Ideally, all of your clients should have the latest version, but this will be virtually impossible for Anti-Virus Signature (AVS) as Microsoft releases AVS 3 or 4 times a day. To assist you, the Anti-Virus Signature Table uses two shades of light red to highlight clients with an out-of-date AVS of more than 14 days.
All of our reports have the Role-Based Administration (RBA) feature enabled. This means that if you are using System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager or higher, these reports will work with all RBA clients.
